I used to wonder if anyone even knew what the Community Playlist in the find a game menu was there for. For the longest time I never explored it. When I made the switch from Modern Warfare 2 I assumed that the hardcore playlist would be where I spent most of my time. In the beginning, it was. I played ALOT of hXc domination. Over time I got sick of that game mode and started to look for other game modes to occupy my time. I decided to try out Core, which I never ever played on MW2.
Then the day came when my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to double xx into Drop Zone. It was a wondrous time, going in alone, fumbling around until I figured out what the hell was going on. In those first moments it was pure chaos. It’s sensory overload, there are people everywhere. Once I figured out the gist of the game, I fell in love. I think I ranked up twice in my first game, and I was hooked at that point. That was my first discovery, Drop Zone is chock full of POINTS. If you need to rank up quickly hop into a couple of games of Drop Zone and if you’re any good, you can rank up fast.
I know what you’re thinking now, what’s the best load out to use? Well I’m sure this is hotly debated and everyone has their own things that work for them. What I can share is what works for me. I guess a little back ground is in order, I run and gun. In a world full of quick scopers that have seemed to populate MW3, I refuse to play like a pussy. Yes, yes I know if I was in the military in real life I wouldn’t run across a war zone counting on marathon pro to surprise the campers and shoot them in the face. In real life, I would be dead. But this isn’t real life, this is Call of Duty. I have found that in Drop Zone being able to get to the objective quickly is super important. Most times you spawn all the way on the other side of the map. This is why I typically load out with a sub machine gun. Specifically the UMP 45, I also like the P90 for the faster rate of fire, but the UMP packs more of a punch and is more accurate for me. I use impact so that my bullets carry more damage, and extended mags so that I don’t have to reload as often. A really important thing in core is to have enough bullets to actually kill someone, since it takes more than in hXc. I love sleight of hand but I only equip it using the specialist kill streak set up, because marathon pro is so much more important to me. I always use a trophy system because those fucking tubers really love Drop Zone. I mean really love Drop Zone. Plus with all those care packages coming down, the trophy system has saved my ass more than once from a predator. Semtex or grenades are always a good thing to keep on hand for those novices that aren’t using trophy systems themselves. My perks are Marathon Pro (duh), Quickdraw Pro, and Steady Aim Pro. I really hate Marathon being in the same perk class as sleight of hand. The 3rd perk slot is close to useless with things like marksman and stalker. I don’t make the game though, I just play it. I use specialist always with sleight of hand in the first slot and generally cycle through the others to get whatever I don’t have Pro in, since that also ranks you up faster.
My general rule of thumb in Drop Zone is to only go for the care packages that pretty much land on top of you, or are things like air support. The main thing that will absolutely FUCK your KDR is going for every care package that drops out of the sky. Not to mention you may get one of the rigged packages that drop for your enemies every so often. The most important thing to get the most points is to get yourself into the Drop Zone and defend your position. Even getting a shit ton of kills won’t get you as many points as you will get for getting yourself into the drop zone and staying there.
I’m sure you can tell I really love Drop Zone. I also love certain things about infected, like how exciting is it to be the last one alive? I also like that they randomize guns for the non-infected, which make it constantly interesting. The draw back to infected is the shit stains that split screen and boost. You are minding your own business, trying to kill the infected and stay alive, when you come across some jackass with a throwing a tac insertion and his counterpart shooting him in the head once it’s down. If you are one of these people, you are the scum of the earth. You should have your account banned and your balls removed. This video shows a couple of ways this happens. It’s prevalent in this game mode which completely ruins it for me. Not to mention there just isn’t a lot of points in it unless, of course, you are boosting.
So in my opinion Drop Zone is the better game mode of the 2 currently available modes from the community playlist. I can’t wait to see what they will add next. If you have any information you’d like to share about new game modes leave a comment. If you want to whack your manly chest and attempt to play with me, I’m on PSN add Monica_thekiller.
